Bizhu Fan is an associate attorney in the firm’s litigation team.
Ms. Fan began her legal training at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, where she externed in the Public Integrity Division and the Hardcore Gang Crime Division. She assisted prosecutors in felony matters, gaining valuable hands-on experience in motion practice and trial preparation.
Following her work with the District Attorney’s Office, Ms. Fan joined a civil litigation boutique law firm, where she handled a broad range of complex, high-stakes matters with exposure ranging from seven to nine figures, including commercial litigation, employment dispute defense, and professional liability defense. Ms. Fan has demonstrated strong litigation instincts and keen judgment, particularly in her ability to strategize and develop effective tactics throughout the litigation process. Ms. Fan has a proven record of helping clients achieve optimal outcomes.
Ms. Fan also brings a distinctive cross-border and business-oriented perspective to her litigation practice. Prior to her practice in the US, Ms. Fan practiced law in China and worked in the finance sector, including serving as legal counsel to a commercial bank and as a certified foreign exchange and derivatives trader in the interbank market. This background enables her to approach litigation with a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and the commercial realities facing clients, allowing her to consider both legal outcomes and business implications. She passed the Chinese bar examination in 2012 while still in law school, and subsequently completed judicial externships with a District Court and the Supreme People’s Court of China.
Ms. Fan is admitted to practice in California, New York, and China.
Ms. Fan earned her LL.M. degree from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, where she served as LL.M. Representative for the Association of International Students of Law and received the Dean’s Academic Excellence Award. She also holds a Master of Laws degree in Civil and Commercial Law from Harbin Institute of Technology, as well as undergraduate degrees in Law and Economics from Southwest University of Political Science and Law.
